Continuous Swimming Training Arises a Remarkable Effect on Some Longevity Biomarkers in Rat Skeletal Muscles

چکیده مقاله:
Background. SIRT3 is one of the members of the Sirtuin deacetylase protein family which is linked to the longevity of human being and is used as an important therapeutic and diagnostic marker in illness and aging. Objectives. The aim of this study was studying the effect of continuous swimming training on some biomarkers of longevity in slowtwitch (SOL) and fast-twitch (EDL) muscles of adult male rats. Methods. 20 healthy male, 5 months old rats were divided into two groups: control (n = 10) and exercise (n = 10) groups. Continuous swimming training was performed 5 days a week for 8 weeks, including 30 minutes of workout without adding weights in the first week to 60 minutes of workout, adding weights by 3% of the body weight in the eighth week. Twenty four hours after the last exercise session, SOL and EDL muscles were removed and the changes in variables (PGC-1α, SIRT3, and GSH: GSSG) were measured by ELISA method. Results. The results showed that conducting 8 weeks of continuous swimming training significantly increased PGC-1α and SIRT3 levels in slow-twitch (SOL) and fast-twitch (EDL) muscles (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in the aging index (GSH: GSSG) of the SOL and EDL groups compared to the control group (p>0.05). Conclusion. According to the findings of the present study, the implementation of continuous swimming exercises can improve the PGC-1α and SIRT3 proteins, which are biogenesis mitochondrial and life span biomarkers in slow- and fast-twitch muscles.

Effect of swimming on reinnervation of rat skeletal muscle.
There are no studies that define the optimum intensity or time to begin exercising reinnervating muscle. Through overwork of reinnervating muscle, accomplished by synergistic tenotomy, we developed a working hypothesis. This hypothesis was tested on a physiological model. In the present study, the sciatic nerve of five groups of rats was crushed. One group served as the control and the remainin...
متن کاملThe effect of training on the swimming muscles of the goldfish (Carassius auratus).
Goldfish (Carassius auratus) were exercised continuously for periods of 28 days at swimming speeds of 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 body lengths per second and their rates of growth were determined. Changes in muscle fibre size were examined, as were changes which occurred in the concentrations of the major chemical constituents of these cells. These fish, typical of the carp family in that they are found o...
متن کاملProteomic and Carbonylation Profile Analysis of Rat Skeletal Muscles following Acute Swimming Exercise
Previous studies by us and other groups characterized protein expression variation following long-term moderate training, whereas the effects of single bursts of exercise are less known. Making use of a proteomic approach, we investigated the effects of acute swimming exercise (ASE) on protein expression and carbonylation patterns in two hind limb muscles: the Extensor Digitorum Longus (EDL) an...
متن کاملHormonal influence on diurnal glycogen rhythms in rat skeletal muscles.
1. Normal, diabetic, and sympathectomized rats were killed at intervals during a 12 h light (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.)/12 h dark cycle to determine (1) the patterns of diurnal glycogen rhythms in skeletal muscle fibre types, and (2) if the absence of insulin or the catecholamines epinephrine and norepinephrine abolished these rhythms. 2. Normal rat muscles lost and restored 40-60% of their glycogen sto...
متن کاملEffect of temperature reduction on myotonia in rat skeletal muscles in vitro.
1. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of temperature reduction on the response of rat skeletal muscles to myotonia-inducing agents. 2. A model myotonia was induced in the muscles in vitro, using either the chloride channel blocker anthracene-9-carboxylic acid or chloride-free Krebs solution. This model is similar in its characteristics to the myotonia which occurs in autosom...
متن کاملEffect of microgravity on the expression of mitochondrial enzymes in rat cardiac and skeletal muscles.
The purpose of this study was to examine the expression of nuclear and mitochondrial genes in cardiac and skeletal muscle (triceps brachii) in response to short-duration microgravity exposure. Six adult male rats were exposed to microgravity for 6 days and were compared with six ground-based control animals. We observed a significant 32% increase in heart malate dehydrogenase (MDH) enzyme activ...
